Balanced designs,
built with purpose.
Jake Phillips is a master fabricator and craftsman with over 15 years of experience building the spaces and structures that leave lasting impressions.
As Lead Fabricator and CAD/CAM Technician at the Intrepid Sea, Air, and Space Museum, he contributed to more than 22 exhibitions — managing budgets of varying scale and overseeing every stage from design and construction to final installation.
His work with Crew Ventures, the award-winning hospitality group behind New York’s most celebrated nautical destinations, further sharpened his expertise in heritage craftsmanship, ship carpentry, and the art of restoring historic wooden vessels.
At Ballast Craft, that depth of experience is now available to museums, cultural institutions, and design-forward clients who demand precision and quality at every stage. From custom casework and exhibit fabrication to traditional joinery and material finishing, Ballast Craft delivers work that honors the craft — on time, on budget, and built to endure.
